Professor Chinoy puts you at ease straight away with his calming, caring bed side manner. He sits and listens to you, giving his full attention. Explaining the next stages, so you always know what to expect. What a lovely fellow. Thank you for the care, kindness and of course helping me get better!

Prof Chinoy has been very helpful with my rheumatoid arthritis. He is thorough and ensures a full investigation before rushing to final treatment. He takes the time to really listen.

My consolation with Professor Chinoy was perfect his attention to detail both in my examination and his recommendations as to the best way forward with treating my knee condition was second to none my follow up consultation was also excellent. Peter Ogden

Prof Chinoy has excellent patient care skills. He actively listened to all my concerns and responded in a focused, individualised way rather than merely following protocol. His knowledge and clinical skills were very apparent. He summarised our discussion very clearly and outlined the next steps so that I understood exactly what would happen next. Follow-up paperwork was very timely. I would highly recommend this lovely, calm and caring doctor.

Professor Hector Chinoy is a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Consultant Rheumatologist. He is also principal investigator on a number of clinical trials. Outside of the NHS, he has private consulting rooms at BMI Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle, and Spire OrthTeam Manchester Hospital, Didsbury, for both general and specialist conditions, on a Wednesday and Friday evening.

He is also employed by The University of Manchester, where he is actively involved with research and the education of medical students and doctors, and is Programme Director for the Clinical Rheumatology MSc Programme. Professor Chinoy has authored over 130 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals, has presented multiple research abstracts in national and international conferences, and is considered to be a global expert in inflammatory myopathy. He has edited an Oxford Rheumatology Library textbook on Myositis.
Professor Chinoy firmly believes in the importance of clear, open communication with patients and sufferers of musculoskeletal conditions. He sees a wide range of rheumatic diseases at Salford Royal and closely works alongside a multidisciplinary team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses and podiatrists. On completing his medical degree at the University of Nottingham in 1996, Professor Chinoy carried out medical training in Nottingham, Sheffield and Manchester. He trained in Rheumatology in the North West from 2001-2009. He completed an Arthritis Research UK Fellowship at The University of Manchester, and was awarded a PhD in 2007. In 2009 he became a Consultant Rheumatologist and in 2010 was awarded a Senior Clinical Lectureship in Rheumatology. He was awarded a Chair at The University of Manchester in 2019.
Research interests include immunogenetic risk factors and how these correlate with novel serological biomarkers and clinical outcomes. He is co-chair of UKMYONET, a national consortium which fosters collaborative research in inflammatory myopathy. Dr Chinoy is also chair of the Euromyositis Registry, a web-based consortium which collects standardised clinical data in over 20 countries.
